Norwood Church's Schedule for Advent and Christmas

(All events are the Chapel at Norwood church unless stated otherwise)

Sunday Services continue throughout the season at 10.45am

Friday 7 December - Creating Space for God (Crafts for Christmas), 7pm-8pm (meet in the school room for refreshments from 6.30)

Wednesday 12th December - Alfie & Violet's drop in for pre-school children, parents/carers - Christmas Service, 10.30-10.45am

Thursday 13th December - Norwood Nites (free Film Night) presents "Nativity", Film begins at 7pm.  Refreshments available

Friday 14th December, an evening of Christmas music and readings by "Cadenza".  Tickets £5 from Liz Elliz, Victoria Cook, Elaine Turner and on the Door.

Sunday 16th December - Churches Together Carol Service in Beverley Minster- 6.30pm

Friday 21st December - Folk Carol Service - 7.30 pm.  Refreshments available

Monday 24th December - Christmas Eve Midnight Communion - 11.15pm

Tuesday 25th December - Christmas morning service - 10.30am at Toll Gavel United Church, Beverley.

Friday 4th January - Creating Space for God (Silent Communion), 7pm-8pm (meet in the school room for refreshments from 6.30)

Creating Space for God returns

The 2012/13 season of Creating Space for God returns in October.  This years programme is:

5th October - SHARE
"Sharing Spiritual Treasures" - bring a meaningful object and leave space for refreshments

2nd November - SAINTS
A liturgy for All Saints & All Souls

7th December - CRAFTS
Crafts for Christmas

4th January - SILENCE
Silent Communion

1st February - ICONS
Pre-lent Meditation with Icons

1st March - SING
"Singing the Faith", a sung liturgy

5th April - SPRING
Celebrating Spring - an open air experience at Burton Bushes

3rd May - STORY
Poetry, stories, prose and prayer - bring and share

7th June - DANCE
Circle Dance

5th July - PRAY
Praying the Scriptures

Aspiring to be an Inclusive Christian Community

Sometimes, when people say 'All are welcome', they mean 'all are welcome, as long as people can fit in to the established rules' - but Norwood Church and 'Creating Space for God' aspire to be a truly inclusive community.  It is not that we do not care about your race, gender, sexual oriantation, disability; on the contrary, we care deeply about the diversity of human beings and wish to celebrate God's gift in all humanity.  That includes gender (both sex and gender identity), racial/ethnic origin, national identity, disability/impairment, sexual orientation, age and class.  Even as a Christian community we are open to dialogue with people of all faiths and none.

We don't always get this right - after all we are human and make mistakes - but we try to be open to ALL, and open to God.

Coming up in 2012/13

An unusually busy schedule for the editor has kept the blog quiet this spring and summer - but look out for lots of news coming soon.

Creating Space for God is able to confirm that we will be back for a fourth year, starting September 2012, continuing until June 2013.  We currently plan to hold our programme of creative events on the First Friday of each month, and more details will follow soon.

In the meantime, Norwood Church will host a regular series of coffee mornings (complete with cake!) on the LAST Friday of each month, from July to October - and many of the Creating Space Team will be around to chat to, if you would like to know more about the programme.

Holy Week and Easter 2012

Creating Space for God's host church, Norwood Methodist Church, Beverley, will mark Holy Week and Easter with the following sevices and events:

Palm Sunday (1st April 2012)

• 10:45am - Morning Worship, Norwood Church
• 12.00 noon - Lent Lunch in aid of Chritian Aid

Mid week

• Wednesday 4th April - 2pm - Holy Week mid-week liturgy, Norwood Church
• Thursday 5th April - 7.30pm - Maundy Thursday service, Toll Gavel United Church, Beverley

Good Friday (6th April 2012)

• 9.30 am - Good Friday service, Toll Gavel United Church
• 10.45am - Beverley Passion Play, starting and Beverley Minster and processing to the Market Cross
• 7pm - Creating Space for God: "So what's good about that?" - Black Mill, The Westwood Pasture, Beverley

Easter Sunday (8th April 2012) - 10.45am - Holy Communion, Norwood Church
